Bachelor of Social Work
The Bachelor of Social Work programme prepares you as a professional social worker and enables you to register with the South African Council for Social Service Professions. It allows one to become a qualified social worker in government departments on a national, provincial, and local level, or voluntary welfare organisations and non-governmental organisations.
Admission requirements for the Bachelor of Social Work
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or school-leaving certificate from the Independent Examination Board (IEB) as certified by Umalusi with a mark of at least 50% in each of the four school subjects from the list of designated university admission subjects.
- An average final mark of 63% in the NSC or the IEB school-leaving certificate (excluding Life Orientation) for the three-year mainstream programme.
- Home Language 50%.
- First Additional Language 50%.
