Bachelor of Music (BMus)
The Bachelor of Music programme offers specialised training to prepare you as a music teacher, performing artist, soloist, accompanist, orchestral player or conductor, music technologist, researcher, or composer.
Admission requirements for the BA Development and Environment
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or school-leaving certificate from the Independent Examination Board (IEB) as certified by Umalusi with a mark of at least 50% in each of the four school subjects from the list of designated university admission subjects.
- An average final mark of 60% in the NSC or the IEB school-leaving certificate (excluding Life Orientation) for the three-year programme.
- Home Language 50%.
- First Additional Language 40%.
- In the main instrument (or in singing) at least a practical standard in classical music equivalent to the Grade VII examination and theoretical knowledge equivalent to any of the examining bodies’ Grade V theory examination
- Candidates must be available for an audition and theoretical test at the Department of Music in Stellenbosch, where candidates must demonstrate proof of the required standards.
