BA International Studies
With training in economic and political issues, and languages such as French, German, and Chinese, this programme is your key to an exciting career. Some possible career opportunities may include journalists and public relations specialists, diplomats, political analysts, organisers and activists in non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and social movements, officials of international organizations such as the United Nations, consultants, aid and relief workers for international bodies, managers of political and other public campaigns, researchers on national and international public affairs, negotiators, peace builders, military and security specialists, international election monitors and political advisors.
Admission requirements for the BA International Studies
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or school-leaving certificate from the Independent Examination Board (IEB) as certified by Umalusi with a mark of at least 50% in each of the four school subjects from the list of designated university admission subjects.
- An average final mark of 63% in the NSC or the IEB school-leaving certificate (excluding Life Orientation) for the three-year mainstream programme.
- An average final mark of 60-62.9% in the NSC (excluding Life Orientation) for the four-year Extended Degree Programme.
- English Home Language 50% OR
- English First Additional Language 60%
