From the rank of Assistant Lecturer when I graduated in April 2014, I rose to become a Lecturer (2015), a Senior Lecturer (2019), and an Associate Professor (2022). I have also co-edited two special issues of journals \u2013 <em>Postcolonial Text<\/em> (2021) and <em>African and Asian Studies<\/em> (2020); a volume of edited essays \u2013 <em>Discourse and Identities: Writing and Contemporary Eastern African Peripheral Subjectivities <\/em>(2019); and five anthologies of creative writing \u2013 <em>Striding to Triumph: Poems from Kasese Secondary School<\/em> (2023); <em>I Promise This Song Is Not About Politics: A Poetry Anthology <\/em>(2022); <em>A Word or Two Before We Part: Poetry from Immaculate Heart Girls\u2019 School-Nyakibale <\/em>(2021); <em>As I Stood Dead Before the World: Creative Writing from Luziira Prison <\/em>(2018); and <em>Fire on the Mountain: Creative Work on the Obuhikira<\/em> (2018).<\/p>\n<p>Besides, I have been active in the civil society, where I have served as President, Ugandan Pen (2014-2021) and Board Member, PEN International (2019-2022). My employer, Mkwawa University College of Education, A Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam, promoted me to a lecturership position in the Department of Languages and Literature. He thereafter pursued a PhD in English at Stellenbosch University. Yenjela is now a research fellow at University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa.
