Do you want to be part of Education for change and Empowerment? Join a unique and special Learning Programme focusing on incarcerated individuals in Brandvlei Correctional Centre? Through this programme Stellenbosch University students will be learning with and from incarcerated individuals in Brandvlei Correctional Centre.
Established in 2018, the Ubuntu Learning Community (“ULC”) is a pioneering partnership between Stellenbosch University and the Department of Correctional Services (“DCS”). It is the first initiative of its kind in South Africa, bringing incarcerated individuals and university students together for transformative, interdisciplinary learning behind bars. ULC’s mission is to rehumanise education, foster collaboration, and empower individuals to rebuild their lives, with a focus on post-incarceration support, community sensitisation and reintegration.
